Capelin roe is golden in color (unlike the black caviar) and is considered as a high value product, and by many as a delicacy.
It is also commonly mixed with wasabi (in Japanese Sushi) and sold as "wasabi caviar". Capelin of good quality are particularly in demand in the Japanese market, but also in Russia and Ukraine. Capelin roe is small and salty eggs, which are very suitable as an ornament or a supplement to other dishes. Capelin roe is also used the same way as lumpfish roe - as optional or topping on eggs, shrimp, crayfish, lobster, tuna, potatoes, etc.
