Georgian Wine Agency summed up the results of exports of wine and various alcoholic beverages in 2016. Statistics shows the considerable rise of exports towards the EU, USA, and other markets. In 2016 Georgian manufacturers of wine exported 50 m bottles (0.75 l.) to 53 countries, 38% more than the previous year. In the reporting period, was exported wine worth 114 m US dollars, 16% more than in 2015.
Particularly, noteworthy the appearance of the new Chinese market on the wine market. The growth of wine exports to China compared to 2015 was 98% (5.5 m (million) bottles), In Ukraine 70% (5.82 m), Russia - 49% (27.3 m), Poland - 46% (2.4 m), Canada - 34% (to 210 k), Belarus -30% (1.18 m), UK -28% (97 k), Estonia -25% (630 k), Kyrgyzstan - 24% (232 k), USA - 19% (295 k), Latvia - 19% (1,26 k), Japan - 15% (1,6 m), Germany - 6% (2.9 m), the Czech Republic - 353% (1.2 m) and others.
We continue to meet the traditional markets in the top five exporting countries, but the third place already belongs to China, which is actually caught up with Ukraine. In particular, the top five exporting countries of wine is as follows: Russia (27.5 m), Ukraine (6 m), China (5.5 m), Kazakhstan (3.5 m), and Poland (2.5 m bottles).
The first place among the exported items of local origin wine takes "Kindzmarauli" - 7.4 m bottles, followed by "Mukuzani" - up to 2.6 m bottles, "Tsinandali" - 2 m bottles, "Akhasheni" - 923 780, and "Hvanchkara" 413,823 bottles.
In addition to wine, in 2016 in 17 countries were exported 10.3 m bottles (0.5 liters) of brandy, which is 43% more than in 2015. In general, export of brandy is worth 23.12 m US dollars; an increase over the same period of 2015, the financial terms amounted to 24%.
In general, income received as a result of exports of wine, brandy, chacha, wine materials and branded alcohol in the reporting period reached 194.3 m US dollars. In 2015 this figure amounted to 146.5 m US dollars, an increase of 32%.
