In their 2025 preseason opener at SoFi Stadium, the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the New Orleans Saints 27–13. The Chargers’ defense shined, with rookie Eric Rogers grabbing two interceptions, including a pick-six, and Caleb Murphy adding two sacks and a forced fumble. Quarterback Trey Lance contributed with both a rushing touchdown and solid passing, while rookie Raheim “Rocket” Sanders also scored on the ground. For the Saints, rookie QB Tyler Shough threw for 165 yards and a 54-yard touchdown but was hindered by the costly interception return.
