The conditions on the planet are constantly changing, and not always for the better. This leads not only to climate change, extinction of some species but also to the problems with the reduction of food resources. It is possible that in the future some traditional products can disappear. It is likely that price for foods from the list below will grow, and many manufacturers and distributors of food products will have to find something new instead.
Wine
Global warming threatens vineyards. Due to the high temperature, the grapes ripen very quickly, without having reached the desired taste for wine. It is assumed that in 20 years the wine business could be reduced by 80% and the price of natural wine will rise to unprecedented numbers.
Honey
Bee populations are drastically reduced through syndrome of “destruction of bee colonies.” Members can swarm around the same time and leave the hive and never return. The reason for this phenomenon is still unclear, but if not to solve the problem, within 20 years, honeybees can disappear, and the world market of honey would fail.
Marine fish
Environmentalists have come to the conclusion that intensive fishing will lead to the complete destruction of marine inhabitants until 2050. We can hope for effective reform of the fishing industry, which will help to save favorite products.
Avocado
Growing avocado is difficult. They need a lot of water but in recent years avocado growing regions are experiencing long drought. With further climate change, avocado exports will be significantly reduced.
Beer
In the near future the taste of beer we consider usual and traditional can change, so call it a favorite drink will be difficult. A rise in temperature decreases hop alpha-acids, which are responsible for taste. The brewery will have to work hard to make beer connoisseurs like its altered taste.
Mussels
Currently, sea water temperature gradually increases. Also, decreases the concentration of salts, which creates a negative impact on marine organisms. After all, it affects the populations of mussels. Production of mussels is going through hard times.
Coffee
Australian scientists have concluded that by 2050 the number of agricultural areas where they grow and export coffee will be reduced by half. By 2080 the plant may disappear from the face of the Earth. The reason lies in global warming – because of the rise in temperature, plantations are increasingly affected by fungal diseases.
Bananas
Scientists sound the alarm: the sort of bananas “Cavendish” familiar to us may soon disappear. It faces extinction a few decades because of fungus TR4, which affects the roots of plants. This happened with bananas “Gros Michel” in the XX century. A mysterious fungus has spread in Pakistan, Indonesia, Africa and Australia.
Chocolate
It is likely that even after 50 years, people can go without chocolate. The first reason - plant diseases annually kill a third of the world's cocoa crop. The second reason - the drought in areas of cocoa production, and third – aging of trees.
Maple syrup
We know that Canadian favorite product - maple syrup is made from maple sap. Therefore, to make sufficient juice, maples require long winter. But due to global warming, modern winters in Canada are getting shorter, which jeopardizes the production of syrup.
